New data on foreign investment in Iceland, etc.

NOTE: This article is from 27. January 2004 and is therefore more than 5 years old.

Statistics on inward and outward direct investment have now been published on the Central Bank of Iceland website. As before, data on equity and intracompany loans connected with direct investments are incorporated into the quarterly Balance of payments statistics. The new tables present annual figures for inward and outward direct investment, broken down by country and sector. Data on foreign direct investment (FDI) flow and position, by type, are given for the period 1989-2002, with a more detailed breakdown by country and sector for 1998-2002.

The Central Bank of Iceland has compiled and regularly published data on FDI. These are now posted on the Central Bank website (under the link Statistics in the left-hand column, in the category Balance of payments and external position) in response to growing interest in easier access to such information. The statistics are presented in Excel format.

Other updates are made to the Statistics web pages on a monthly basis, according to a week-by-week schedule. On January 26, end-of-year statistics on the banking system, deposit money banks and Central Bank of Iceland were published under the headingThe credit system.
