IMF Annual Meetings 2023
Ásgeir Jónsson, Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland, and Gunnar Jakobsson, Deputy Governor for Financial Stability, participated along with other representatives from the Central Bank of Iceland in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund October 9-14, 2023. The Governor represents Iceland on the Board of Governors of the IMF. He also attended the meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC).
The Governor and representatives from the Central Bank also met with representatives of the IMF, the Nordic-Baltic Constituency, rating agencies, financial institutions, thinktanks, and delegations from other countries.
The International Monetary and Financial Committee meets biannually, where the Fund presents its assessment of the global economic outlook, financial stability, and the fiscal situation. The Managing Director of the Fund also presents her Global Policy Agenda. Nadia Calviño, First Vice President of Spain and Minister for Economy and Digitalization, chaired the meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) and Riikka Purra, Finance Minister of Finland represented the Nordic-Baltic constituency in the IMFC on this occasion.
