Total turnover of domestic payment cards amounted to 131.7 b.kr. in March 2026, where the total turnover of debit cards was 54.6 b.kr. and the turnover of credit cards was 77.0 b.kr.
Domestic turnover of payment cards in Icelandic retail outlets amounted to 98.2 b.kr. in March, an increase by 2.9 b.kr. compared to March 2025. This turnover comprised of 40.4 b.kr. debit cards turnover and of 57.8 b.kr. turnover of credit cards respectively. Turnover of domestic payment cards in retail outlets abroad amounted to 31.0 b.kr. in March 2026, which is 3.2 b.kr. higher turnover compared to March 2025.
Total turnover of foreign payment cards in Iceland was 24.7 b.kr. in March 2026, which is 0.2 b.kr. lower turnover compared to March 2025.
