Total turnover of domestic payment cards amounted to 125.6 b.kr. in January 2026, where the total turnover of debit cards was 53.8 b.kr. and the turnover of credit cards was 71.7 b.kr.
Domestic turnover of payment cards in Icelandic retail outlets amounted to 93.2 b.kr. in January, an increase by 4.8 b.kr. compared to January 2025. This turnover comprised of 39.5 b.kr. debit cards turnover and of 53.7 b.kr. turnover of credit cards respectively. Turnover of domestic payment cards in retail outlets abroad amounted to 29.8 b.kr. in January 2026, which is 4.1 b.kr. higher turnover compared to January 2025.
Total turnover of foreign payment cards in Iceland was 18.6 b.kr. in January 2026, which is 0.5 b.kr. lower turnover compared to January 2025.
