Total turnover of domestic payment cards amounted to 111.1 b.kr. in April 2024, where the total turnover of debit cards was 45,2 b.kr. and the turnover of credit cards was 65.9 b.kr.
Domestic turnover of payment cards in Icelandic retail outlets amounted to 85.7 b.kr. in April, an increase by 2.6 b.kr. compared to April 2023. This turnover comprised of 36.0 b.kr. debit cards turnover and of 49.6 b.kr. turnover of credit cards respectively. Turnover of domestic payment cards in retail outlets abroad amounted to 22.8 b.kr. in April 2024, which is 0.1 b.kr. lower turnover compared to April 2023.
Total turnover of foreign payment cards in Iceland was 23.0 b.kr. in April 2024, which is 2.3 b.kr. lower turnover compared to April 2023.
Credit card turnover for March is republished due to a review of domestic credit card turnover. The turnover of domestic credit cards was underestimated by ISK 2.7 b.kr. in the bank's previous data. New data has been received and therefore, credit card turnover for March is republished.

Please note that data on turnover of domestic debit cards in banks and ATMs and turnover of credit cards per. billing period, is excluded from Sept. 2020 and onwards.
