Arnór Sighvatsson appointed Chief Economist of the Central Bank of Iceland

The Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Iceland has appointed Arnór Sighvatsson Chief Economist and Director of the Economics Department, effective from June 23, 2004.

Arnór Sighvatsson has been Deputy Chief Economist at the Central Bank of Iceland since 1995. From 1993-95 he was assistant to an Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund in Washington and he has also worked as an instructor at Northern Illinois University, where he earned a PhD in Economics in 1990.

Arnór Sighvatsson has written extensively for academic and central banking journals in Iceland, mainly focusing on global economics, global trade, exchange rate issues and monetary economics.
