Market expectations survey

From 28-30 October, the Central Bank of Iceland carried out a survey of market participants’ expectations concerning a variety of economic variables, including inflation and interest rates. A total of 36 agents in the bond market, including banks, pension funds, mutual and investment funds, securities brokers, and licensed asset management firms were invited to participate. Responses were received from 20 market participants, giving a response ratio of 56%.

Statement of the Monetary Policy Committee 6 November 2013

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Iceland has decided to keep the Bank’s interest rates unchanged. According to the Bank’s forecast, the outlook for 2013 is for somewhat stronger output growth than in the August forecast, or 2.3%, whereas the outlook for the next two years is broadly unchanged.

Settlement of foreign exchange transactions with financial institutions

At the end of 2010, the Central Bank of Iceland conducted foreign exchange transactions with financial institutions, with the aim of enhancing stability in the financial system. Among them were forward transactions amounting to 47.9 b.kr. Today, 6 November 2013, a portion of these trades, in the amount of 20.2 b.kr., were settled.
